Welcome to Los Cheros Pupuseria, a hidden gem nestled in Gardena, California, where the heart of Salvadoran cuisine comes alive. Located at 16502 S Main St Ste 6, this delightful spot offers a taste of authenticity that transports your palate directly to El Salvador. If you're on the hunt for exceptional pupusas, look no further; this is where you'll find flavors that echo tradition.

Los Cheros is renowned for its pupusas, the star dish of the menu. Patrons rave about the pupusas de revueltas—a delicious mix of cheese and meat that captures the essence of Salvadoran comfort food. Diners like Xenia V. proclaim them to be 'fire,' a true testament to the authenticity and technique employed in their creation. With a perfect balance of filling and dough, these pupusas avoid the common pitfalls of heaviness, allowing for a satisfying meal without the guilty aftermath.

While the pupusas undoubtedly steal the spotlight, the menu at Los Cheros extends far beyond this beloved staple. Savor dishes such as Pollo Asado and Costillas De Cerdo Entomatadas, showcasing the diverse and flavorful nature of Salvadoran cuisine. The Costillas, tender pork ribs bathed in a rich tomato sauce, provide a burst of flavor that is as comforting as it is hearty. For lighter options, the Pechuga a La Plancha—grilled chicken breast—serves as a delightful choice, paired beautifully with savory sides.

The ambiance at Los Cheros is casual and inviting, a perfect setting for a relaxed meal. With a cozy interior and a few outdoor tables, diners can enjoy their food at their own pace. As Quang D. notes, while the pupusas are wonderfully cheesy, they retain a lightness that makes them easy to share—a perfect choice for a casual lunch or a friendly get-together.

Not to be overlooked, the curtido and sauces offered alongside the pupusas elevate the dining experience. Customers appreciate the refreshing acidity of the curtido, which provides a pleasing contrast to the rich flavors of the pupusas. While some have desired a spicier option, the existing flavors stand strong on their own.

Whether you're a Salvadoran cuisine aficionado or a first-time diner eager for new experiences, Los Cheros Pupuseria promises a mouthwatering journey through flavors that speak of tradition and love. With each bite, you're not just tasting food; you're participating in a rich cultural narrative woven through time and family recipes.

So, gather your friends, plan your visit, and immerse yourself in the delightful offerings of this local treasure—where every meal tells a story, and you become part of a culinary legacy. For takeout or a cozy meal, Los Cheros is ready to serve you. Don't miss out on this undeniable taste of El Salvador!

This small place has a very chill atmosphere. When I arrived, it wasn't busy at all, with some booths, mostly tables, and a few tables outside. It's a relaxed spot, perfect for a casual meal. The pupusas were a pleasant surprise. They're often critiqued for being heavy and overly cheesy, but these ones, though cheesy, felt light because they weren't overly bready. Even after sharing three whole ones between two people, it didn't feel heavy at all. The chile pupusa was really good, though the one with chicharrón wasn't for me. I've realized I'm not much of a meaty pupusa person in general, but overall, this place is solid, and I'd definitely come back. The curtido wasn't as spicy as I'd like, so I'd recommend asking for a spicier version if that's your thing. But it was nicely acidic, which I loved--it really cuts through the carbs and fat. The horchata was solid, though I'm not much of a Salvadoran horchata person, so it didn't stand out for me. But for those who enjoy it, I think you'll like it. Support this business--yay!

We were lucky enough to get there when it wasn't as packed! We sat down right after ordering! I love me a pupusa with cheese leaking out and touches the griddle - you know you're about to bite on the best part of the pupusa. I live near El Salvador Corridor in LA, a street bustling with Salvadorean goods and street food, but this is definitely one of the better pupuserias I've had recently! I really enjoy how the shell isn't as thick as the ones I've had around LA so you're able to enjoy the filling. I also appreciate how the filling is very generous but not overwhelming that they take away the flavor and experience. I just wish they had spicy curtido; they gave us spicy sauce to mix with it but it didn't satisfy the craving. Will definitely recommend it to those who are in search of good pupusas.

Yes, there's always a long wait, and because of this, I usually order on an app, so I don'thave to wait there. Yes, the place is tiny, and personally, I don't find it pleasant to dine in, which is why I always take my order out. Is the service mediocre? Maybe, but they're always busy, and I don't care if they can't have a conversation with me because I'm there to grab my food and bounce. Most importantly, are the pupusas any good? Absolutely! I've grown up having homemade pupusas from my grandmother. I've also been fortunate enough to visit the homeland occasionally and have had pupusas in El Salvador. Everything about these pupusas is amazing and is the closest to the real thing out in SoCal. This is my go-to when I want some authentic pupusas. Everyone that I've introduced to this place has agreed. My favorites are the revueltas, chicharon con queso, and queso con loroco. My partner loves their chicken and cheese only. Their salsa and curtido are on point and very fresh. If you want some authentic pupusas, place an order ahead of time, take out, and just be okay with getting a quick smile and hurry up and move the type of vibe. I swear it's worth it!

Pupusas are delicious! Service is good and almost family like feeling due to the size of the place. I've been here multiple times. Will continue to come back.

If you're looking for the best pupusas in Los Angeles, look no further. The chicharrón con queso pupusas here are simply delicious. The chicharrón tastes just like the real deal, and the refried beans inside add a delightful flavor. Our breakfast casamiento was also a hit. You can have all the fancy décor in the world, but if the food isn't up to par, customers won't return. Despite its small size, this place serves up authentic Salvadorian cuisine that is bursting with flavor.

Real Salvis will know this place is legit. Call in your order ahead of time because everyone knows good pupusas take time. Sure, it's not the best customer service; but in my opinion, that's how you know it's going to be bomb. Definitely coming back for more. They are not stingy with the fillings. Best pupusas around

So I've eaten here twice already, and both times I danced, rocked back and forth, and openly admitted I would return to order their breakfast. I mean, honestly, how does something so simple taste this good. My husband came with me the second time, and he was impressed with the authenticity of the food. Flavors, quality, and portions, if you know you know. This is food made with genuineness and love it speaks volumes about the owners and chefs. Keep doing what you're doing because you're great at it!
